What Ownership Documents Do I Need in New Jersey?

Under New Jersey MVC's standard ownership-transfer procedure, the seller signs the seller section on the back of the title and gives the title to the buyer with a bill of sale. The bill of sale should include the buyer's name and address, sale date, odometer reading, and sale price. Sellers must also remove the license plates; eligible plates may be transferred to another vehicle registered in the same name, while plates that are no longer being used should be surrendered to MVC.
